Software makes video camera vigilance more efficient
It’s no secret that one of the fastest growing industries today is homeland security, and one of the most active and quickly evolving sub-sectors is video surveillance.
Look around you – cameras are everywhere now. More cameras mean more video signals. More video signals mean more human eyes needed to watch them. More people watching the video feeds means higher costs and a greater margin for error. Enter Agent Vi.
Agent Vi is a startup company that puts the tracking technology in the camera, eliminating the need for people to constantly scan a bank of TV monitors in a control room. Through Agent Vi’s software architecture, the camera can be programmed to look for any predetermined event. For example, it might search for an “abandoned” object on a busy subway platform. When it spots a stationary object, the software in the camera will send an alert to the controller. The advantage of this system is that only relevant event data is transmitted, drastically reducing network traffic, increasing operational efficiencies and lowering costs.
So, how does a fledgling startup with revolutionary software but no real product to show talk about its solutions to prospective customers and partners?
First, Agent Vi enlisted Point of Vision to create a corporate identity that reflects its brand position as a leader in the next generation of video surveillance technology. With a startup’s budget in mind, Point of Vision applied this new identity to posters, table tents and signage for a major conference for security professionals. The materials had to address the output of a complex software solution in an abstract manner, yet still be quickly understood by prospects wading through a sea of solution providers at this huge conference.
Now that the seminar is over, POV will be working with Agent Vi to update its sales collateral and create its Web site. Its Web presence will not only promote sales, but also act as a portal for existing customers to receive updates and interact with technical support.
In our post-9/11 world, surveillance is a must. We’re glad to be helping Agent Vi, and helping to make sure the people who need to watch over us can do it more effectively.
